The equipment entails a dedicated imaging system utilising penetrating X-rays generated by the system. The penetrating radiation passes through a sample under investigation and is detected by a 2D array detector. The camera sends the captured image (radiograph) to a PC hard drive for storage. Many radiographs at different angles of the sample is generated, stored and reconstructed to generate a tomogram-a 3D virtual image of the sample under investigation. The system consists of the following equipment:
1x large Pb layed out cabinet containing, 225kV X-ray multifunctional X-ray source, 5 axis translation table, 1x Am-Si detector
Chiller-cooling fo the X-ray tube
2 x PC's for control, aquisition and reconstruction and visualisation.
