Hysitron Incorporated NanoTensileTM 5000 Nano Tensile 5000
The nanoTensileTM 5000 is able to measure the dynamic tensile properties of single and multi-component nanocomposite fibers used to fixate bioactive molecules within three dimensional polymeric scaffolds. One of the most practical uses of nanoscale tensile and pull testing is the determination of the elastic modulus, stiction, adhesion, deflection and deformation of biomaterials such as thin polymeric films that are developed as prolonged release implantable devices. The instrument is also suitable for investigating the mechanical properties of fine micro-structured biological samples like human blood vessels, tendons, organ tissue, skin and hair. In the case of multiphase composites used to formulate various drug delivery systems, mechanical properties of each phase will affect the overall drug release performance. The nanoTensileTM 5000 is therefore able to measure the physicomechanical properties of multiphase materials. Components of the nanoTensileTM 5000 system include the nanoTensile automated test instrument, a transducer assembly with up to 10N axial (tensile) force, the nanoTensileTM 5000 software with feedback control package, active vibration isolator, a motorized translation stage, an environmental isolation enclosure, a piezo and transducer controller rack and a comprehensive workstation. A customizable gripper and mounting platform interface is included that accommodates application-specific tensile grippers as well as for pull test accessories for the characterization of nano-scale devices and materials. The instrument has a NT HeadTM based on Hysitron.
