The TUFTASS generates, controls and applies short laser pulses with the following properties:

  • The length of the laser pulses is around 100 femto-seconds (FS) 
  • The peak power of the pulses is so high, that new physical phenomena take place when the light is focused, up to 3*10/16 W/cm2 with a 100mm focal length lens
  • The wave length of the laser pulses can be tuned to a wide range of values right across the visible spectrum to the mid-infrared (540nm to 20 000nm)
