SOLiD4 Sequencer

Model:
Sequencer
Manufacturer:
SOLiD4 Sequencer

The Life Technologies SOLiD4 and the 550XL SOLiD are Next Generation Sequencers that utilise Sequencing by Oligonucleotide Ligation Detection and differs from the technology employed by the Roche and illumina platforms. The SOLiD is bundled with a series of sample preparation tools as well as data handling tools. The instrument itself is relatively simple and consists of three integrated systems; a liquid handling system, a detection system and a data system. In short, millions of short DNA fragments are generated immobilised on a slide and reagents are flushed sequentially over the slide. During this process florescence is detected and assigned to individual DNA fragments (this happens on the SOLiD).
