Biolog GEN III OmniLog® Combo Plus System -ID & PM

Model:
GEN III OmniLog® Combo Plus System -ID & PM
Manufacturer:
Biolog GEN III OmniLog® Combo Plus System -ID & PM

Biolog’s OmniLog enables high throughput, automated kinetic cell assays on 50 microplates (4,800 wells) at a time. The instrument can be used with Biolog’s preconfigured PM phenotypic assay panels or with any other colorimetic assays. Microplates are read in place and they do not have to be transferred to a reader nor do the lids have to be removed during reading which, preserves sterile incubation conditions.

The applications includes:

  1. Advanced Identification of Gram negative and Gram Positive Aerobic bacteria, Yeasts, Filamentous fungi
  2. Phenotype MicroArray Analysis - characterization of bacteria, yeasts and fungi.

High-throughput phenotypic testing is increasingly important for exploring the biology of bacteria, fungi, yeasts, and animal cell lines such as cancer cells. Just as DNA microarrays and proteomic technologies have made it possible to assay the level of thousands of genes or proteins all at once, phenotype microarrays make it possible to quantitatively measure thousands of cellular phenotypes all at once. The approach alsooffers potential for testing gene function and improving genome annotation. In contrast to molecular technologies, phenotypic testing is processed with living cells, thus providing comprehensive information about the performance of entire cells.
