Leco Pegasus 4D GCxGC-TOFMS Gas Chromatograph (GC)

The Pegasus 40 is a comprehensive twodimensional gas chromatograph and time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Comprehensive twodimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC) allows for the complete analysis and characterisation of complex samples. As opposed to heartcutting, GCxGC passes all effluent from the primary column through the secondary column, thereby maximising sample resolution throughout the entire analysis. GCxGC adds a second dimension of chromatographic resolution to the sample analysis. This is accomplished by using two orthogonal separation phases (such as non-polar and polar) within a single analysis. The use of these two separation mechanisms expands the chromatographic plane-thus creating additional peak capacity in which peaks can be resolved. By harnessing the additional resolving power of the GCxGC, there is now the possibility of developing high resolution chromatography of complex samples such as natural products with minimal sample handling.
