Set Point Atomic Absorption Spectrometer Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS)
An atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS) is used to determine the presence and concentrations of metals in liquid samples. Quantitative analysis using AAS depends on: (1) accurate measurements of the intensity of the light, and (2) the assumption that the radiation absorbed is proportional to the atomic concentration of the metal. The instrument measures the change in intensity and a computer data system converts the change in intensity into an absorbance reading.
